Zecotek Completes Breakthrough 3D Data Processing Design
Singapore, May 29, 2014 - Zecotek Photonics Inc. (TSX-V: ZMS; Frankfurt: W1I.F), a developer of leading-edge photonics technologies for medical, industrial and scientific markets, today announced it has completed the initial design engineering for a new data processing module for its patented real-time 3D display, representing a significant milestone in bringing the display system to commercial production. The new configuration provides for real time capability, with a system capable of transferring data for up to ninety views in full High Definition. The new system design eliminates the previous requirement for ALP (accessory light modulator package) boards, allowing for a significantly cheaper and more compact design. The redesign also includes the development of 3D image compression for data interface, and a new application interface to allow direct transfer of data from existing programs such as AutoCAD. These recent developments directly support Zecotek’s recent initiative in developing new 3D printers and 3D printer interfaces.
“There is a substantial latent demand for a commercially viable, glasses-free, true 3D HD system which can handle real time data from a variety of existing sources and can adapt to either small workstations or large venue screens.” said Dr. A.F. Zerrouk, Chairman, President, and CEO of Zecotek Photonics Inc. “The new design represents a significant cost and performance breakthrough for our patented 3D display technology and importantly provides a core technology to both front or rear projection displays, where we have also overcome the technical barriers associated with early designs, which relied on an electromechanical interface.”
Zecotek has received patent allowances from the United States, Europe and Eurasia covering the 3D/2D switchable optical imaging system of Zecotek’s 3D Display. The 3D/2D switchable optical imaging system further improves the core capabilities of the 3D display technology by introducing a software-selectable full-resolution 2D mode with viewing angles and dynamic range/colour depth on par with conventional 2D displays. The patent also covers technology for both 3D and 2D modes, dynamic adjustment of viewing angle, number and width of viewing zones as well as the functionality to dynamically control the positioning of different viewing zones.
Patents have been granted to Zecotek for its 3D display system in the United States, China, Europe, Eurasia, Russia and Australia. Other patents have been filed and are pending in Japan, Korea and India.
