Zecotek’s Real-Time 3D2D Display System to be Offered in 5 to 12 Inch and 54 Inch Versions
Singapore, October 8, 2009 - Zecotek Photonics Inc. (TSX-V: ZMS; Frankfurt: W1I.F), a developer of leading-edge photonics technologies for medical, industrial and scientific markets, today announced that its Real-Time 3D2D Display System will be extended to small and large screen versions in order to meet emerging market demands. The Company is introducing 5 to 12 inch 3D displays for the transportation, personal computing and gaming industries, and a 54 inch 3D display designed to meet the expected demand projected for industrial, medical and home entertainment markets. The Company’s 32 inch display currently on demonstration in its Singapore Lab offers viewers true 3D depth perception with 80 concurrent perspectives and an effective 3D viewing angle of more than 40 degrees.
“Although interest in 3D has grown significantly with more content and new industrial and medical applications, in most cases there are technological limitations for practical display,? said Dr. A.F. Zerrouk, Chairman, President, and CEO of Zecotek. “I firmly believe that our Real-Time 3D2D Display System offers one of the only scalable, cost-effective, high performance, and importantly, glasses-free 3D display solutions to the market. We are particularly excited by the potential growth opportunities for both small and large display units. Our 5 to 12 inch versions will be compatible with presently available OELD screens, which will provide for small, flat display units for airlines, motor vehicles and personal computing, and our large screen displays will be used for everything from advertising to gaming to medical imaging.?
Zecotek’s Real-Time 3D2D Display System, based on the auto-stereoscopic principle, but with substantial innovative and patented improvements, represents a new generation of 3D displays. It is aimed at meeting the needs for both mass market and professional use. Its design provides for multi-user, multi-view, freedom of movement, simultaneous 2D and 3D, high resolution (1024×768), superior image dynamic range in 2D mode, common brightness, and compatibility with existing applications. Furthermore, while competing displays have, for example, a 9 view system with 1094×1080 resolution which actually produces a 214×1080 resolution for each of the 9 views, Zecotek’s Real-Time 3D2D Display System maintains full 1024×768 resolution through 80 views.
Zecotek’s pre-production models have successfully achieved key performance parameters in clarity and viewing angles. Other technical developments include a new, compact and light weight electromechanical module which removes the requirement for the calibration or adjustment of input signals and the integration of new high-power, colour LEDs which enhance viewing in ambient light.
With its scalability, high resolution and unique technology, Zecotek’s Real-Time 3D2D Display System has attracted interest from a variety of end users for applications in education, computer gaming, advertising, medical imaging, medical training and air traffic control. The Company is presently in discussions with potential OEM’s for mass production.
